The command line interface tool for installing the Rocky-Racoon untethered jailbreak known asCinject was updated to version 0.5.4 today, along with updates to the iPhone Dev Team’s other free jailbreak software including RedSn0w, PwnageTool, and UltraSn0w.
According to the Dev Team’s blog, if you already have the Rocky-Racoon jailbreak installed on your device, you shouldn’t need to reinstall it with the new tool. Since cinject 0.5.3 already made use of the Rocky-Racoon exploit, the update only includes changes to the injection method for getting the the exploit onto your phone. Unless you’ve noticed issues related to your current jailbreak. If that’s the case, install a fresh copy of iOS 5.1.1 and give the updated version of cinject a shot.
We’ve previously covered the process for jailbreaking A4 and A5(X) devices with Cinject 0.5.3. As this is a minor revision, the process should largely be the same. Just remember to change thecommand line and Terminal instructions to reflect the version you’re using
On a Mac, you will want to substitute the command in step 4 with:
/Applications/cinject-0.5.4/cinject -Y /Applications/cinject-0.5.4/payloads_rocky
On Windows, you will want to substitute the commands in step 4 with:
cd Desktop/cinject-0.5.4
You can download Cinject 0.5.4 for Windows and Mac from the Downloads Section or from the same link below. Be advised that Cinject 0.5.4 works best on fresh installs of iOS 5.1.1.
Download Cinject 0.5.4 (For Windows and Mac)
Do you prefer using the Command Line Interface over graphical jailbreak tools? If so, tell us why in the comments section below.
