Apple has just pushed another iOS firmware update for both the Apple TV 2G and new 1080p Apple TV 3G. This firmware update brings the Apple TV to version 5.0.2 Build 9B830, which is essentially the iOS 5.1.2 firmware. At this time the changes or added functionality in the iOS 5.0.2 Build 9B830 firmware are not known, but we should see an official changelog released shorty. When this happens we will update this article so stay tuned (should be in a few hours).
Obviously those who are currently Jailbroken Untethered on the iOS 5.0.1 (iOS 5.1.1 Build 9B206f)firmware should stay away from this update until it is deemed safe by a member of the Jailbreaking Community. As it is currently not known whether this firmware update patches Pod2G‘s untethered exploit.
If you are not Jailbroken you can update your Apple TV through the Settings menu (General -> Update Software) or by downloading the iOS 5.0.2 firmware from the direct download link shown below.
