With The “Magenta Project” You Could Run iOS 5.0 On Android Smartphones And Other Generic Hardware

The hacker Chronic has recently been actively tweeting about an upcoming project called “Magenta“. The Magenta Project is essentially aiming to replicate iOS on the Linux kernel. This essentially means that you could run a stable version of iOS on Android smartphones.

Apple Working On An “App Tracking Tool” As An Alternative To UDID Tracking

Back in March Apple started rejecting applications that accessed your iOS device’s UDID. For for those you who are unaware of what a UDID is, essentially it is an identification number (alphanumeric string) that is unique to your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad. The reason why developers have been accessing your UDID is because it allows them to track users activity while they are using any givenapplication. As such you can kind of think of a UDID as a permanent cookie (used by web browsers to track user activity and then serve you relevant ads). The only difference with a UDID is, as mentioned before, they are permanent and track user activity without their permission.

Nokia Lumia 900 Costs More To Build Than Apple iPhone 4S, But The Latter Makes More Profit

Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone device, the Lumia 900, has been everywhere and the company has tried really hard to make it a success. It has succeeded to an extent, but Nokia is still in a bad shape and they’re losing a lot of cash as I write this. Even with the Lumia 900, they’re not making that much of a profit.

iSuppli performed a research on the production cost for both the Nokia Lumia 900 and the iPhone 4S. According to the report, the Lumia 900 costs more to produce than the iPhone 4S, but sells for a cheaper price. It costs $209 for Nokia to make the Lumia 900, whereas it costs $190 to produce the iPhone. The former sells its device for $450 making a profit of $241, whereas the latter makes $459 off its $649 selling price. That alone shows that Apple is making a lot more profit than Nokia, they also sell a lot more devices.

Untethered Jailbreak iPad 2,4 Running iOS 5.1.1 With Absinthe 2.0.4 On Mac OS X, Windows, Linux [Download Now]

Planetbeing recently promised that the Chronic Dev Team is rigorously working on iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for the iPad 2,4. This particular iPad was released earlier this year with a smaller 32nm processor that reduces power consumption, hence providing users with longer battery life.
