On Monday, June 11th Apple will be opening the doors to the WWDC 2012 taking place at theMoscone Center in San Francisco starting at about 10am Pacific Time. This year Apple is expected to announce much more than last year, which consisted mainly of iOS 5 and iCloud. With The “Magenta Project” You Could Run iOS 5.0 On Android Smartphones And Other Generic Hardware

The hacker Chronic has recently been actively tweeting about an upcoming project called “Magenta“. The Magenta Project is essentially aiming to replicate iOS on the Linux kernel. In more technical terms it is an implementation of Darwin/BSD on top of the Linux kernel that will by fully binary compatible with iPhone iOS 5.0 firmware. This essentially means that you could run a stable version of iOS on Android smartphones.

Apple Working On An “App Tracking Tool” As An Alternative To UDID Tracking

Back in March Apple started rejecting applications that accessed your iOS device’s UDID. For for those you who are unaware of what a UDID is, essentially it is an identification number (alphanumeric string) that is unique to your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad. The reason why developers have been accessing your UDID is because it allows them to track users activity while they are using any givenapplication. As such you can kind of think of a UDID as a permanent cookie (used by web browsers to track user activity and then serve you relevant ads). The only difference with a UDID is, as mentioned before, they are permanent and track user activity without their permission.
